In Irish mythological cycles, Brighid, is the daughter of the Dagda, and therefore one of the Tuatha de Dannan. Wife of Bres, with whom she had a son named Ruadán. Her two sisters were also called Brighid, and were associated with healing and crafts. The three Brighids were typically treated as three aspects of a single deity, making her a classic Celtic triple goddess. The Goddess of the Dawn, she is associated with the spring season, fertility, healing, poetry and smithcraft. A Goddess of hearth and home, she is most widely worshiped at Imbolc and thanked for bringing the end of the cold harshness of winter and bringing the promise of spring and growth. Brigid is considered the patroness of poetry, smithing, medicine, arts and crafts, cattle and other livestock, sacred wells, serpents, and magicians, and the arrival of early spring. She is the goddess of all things perceived to be of relatively high dimensions such as high-rising flames, highlands, hill-forts and upland areas. She is the goddess of activities and states conceived as psychologically lofty and elevated, such as wisdom, excellence, perfection, high intelligence, poetic eloquence, druidic knowledge, and skill in warfare. Our Brighid wood-burned box is stylized with her holding the candle of magic and gently urging new life out of her cauldron. The box measures 8" x 8.5" x 1.75" and is stained and sealed for protection. This order contains: One Brighid Keepsake Box (as shown) One free gift (only one per order)
